It is well known that only one in every 10,000 novels finds a print publisher.
Of the forty or so authors who have come to me with an idea for a publishable book and completed the project,
eight already have publishers –
others have agents and will likely find a publisher in the future.
I worked closely with Eve Harris as her writing mentor on her debut novel The Marrying Of Chani Kaufman, which reached the longlist for the 2013 Man Booker Prize; and also with Mitch Feierstein on his non fiction book Planet Ponzi, now published in hardback in both the UK and the United States.

My own work has been published in the UK, Germany, Italy, Russia, Australia, China, Canada and the United States. Mouse Noses on Toast, my first children’s novel, won the Nestlé Children’s Book Prize, while Peter the Penguin Pioneer reached the Blue Peter Book Awards shortlist. My debut adult novel, Boxy an Star, an exploration of the dangers of 1990s hedonism, was shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award and longlisted for the Booker Prize, and is currently being made into a feature film.
“King’s first novel, Boxy an Star, was published in 1999 to gasps of astonishment. Critics described it as ‘exceptional’, ‘maverick’, ‘scorchingly poetic’, ‘my very favourite work of fiction this year’ and ‘like some delirious encounter between PG Wodehouse and William S Burroughs’.”
Katy Guest, The Independent
“My greatest fault was that I didn’t think I needed to be taught how to write.”
